My BP Lab website and app are part of the My BP Lab research study. They are not for medical care, advice, or treatment.

 

 

Terms of Use

The My BP Lab website and app are part of the My BP Lab research study. The My BP Lab research study is for people age 18 or older. To participate, you will need to download the My BP Lab app on to your phone. You may also download the app on to your watch.

 

The My BP Lab research study is run by Dr. Wendy Berry Mendes and researchers from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and Sage Bionetworks (Sage). Sage is a non-profit based in the United States that does health research.

 

The My BP Lab research study is funded by Samsung Electronics Ltd (Samsung) and the Sarlo-Ekman Endowment.

 

The purpose of the My BP Lab study is to learn about how daily life impacts blood pressure. You can learn more about the study here.

 

Together, UCSF and Sage (we) own the My BP Lab website and app. We are responsible for the data we collect from you through the My BP Lab website and app.

 

This Terms of Use covers all of the rules for using the My BP Lab website and app use. It tells how you can and can’t use the website and app.

 

By using the My BP Lab website or app, you agree to this Terms of Use.


 

Who can use the My BP Lab website and app?

Any person anywhere in the world can access the My BP Lab website.

 

The My BP Lab App is a tool of the My BP Lab research study. You need to live and have access to the app store in one of the countries listed here to be able to download the My BP Lab App.

 

Also, the My BP Lab research study is for people age 18 or older. For this reason, you need to be 18 years or older to use the My BP Lab App.

 

Things you can use the My BP Lab website and app for

The My BP Lab website and app are part of the My BP Lab research study. You can use the My BP Lab website to learn more about the My BP Lab research study. You can use the My BP Lab app to participate in the My BP Lab research study.

 

Things you can’t use the My BP Lab website and app for

You are not allowed to use the My BP Lab website or app to intentionally or unintentionally:

·      break laws.

·      harm another person or entity, either physically or emotionally.

·      deceive or mislead another person or entity.

·      encourage gambling or money laundering.

 

Also, you may not intentionally or unintentionally:

·      infringe on My BP Lab website or app intellectual property or proprietary rights.

·      expose My BP Lab website or app to viruses or similar files designed to disrupt computer devices, websites, apps, or resources.

 

Who owns the My BP Lab website and app?

Together, UCSF and Sage own the My BP Lab website and app.

 

UCSF owns the data collected via the app and website.

 

Data Security

We take data security seriously. We use systems and procedures to protect the data we collect from you through the My BP Lab website and app. These systems and procedures help us prevent loss, theft, and misuse of your data. They help us prevent data breaches. Still, no matter what we do, we cannot promise that the data we collect from you is completely secure. We believe the risk is very small, but it is not zero.

Warrantees

The My BP Lab website and app are provided for use within the My BP Lab research study with no warranty.

 

But what if My BP Lab website or app doesn’t work?

The My BP Lab website and app are not medical care. You will not receive medical care by using them.

 

The University of California San Francisco maintains the My BP Lab website. Sage maintains the My BP Lab app. The My BP Lab website and app may not work as you expect. Your access to them may be interrupted, including for maintenance, upgrades, or because of network or other equipment failures.

 

We may stop some or all of My BP Lab website and app features at any time for any reason.

 

Disputes

If you have a dispute with us, you agree to resolve it in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California or a state court in San Francisco County and nowhere else.

We may update this Terms of Use. We will post updates on this website. If we make big changes, we will try to tell you directly. For example, we may send you an email or put a pop-up message on the website or app. If you visit the website, use app, or take part in My BP Lab study, it means you agree to the updated Terms of Use.
